What is the proposal?
“A proposal for change, a new report produced by the RCOG looks at how NHS women’s health services could be configured to provide high quality, safe and timely care.
Against a backdrop of NHS reform, financial and workforce pressures, increasing complexity of women’s health care, the current structures cannot be sustained.”
What does Jentle think?
* Jentle believes CHOICE of birth place should remain with the woman after full information given.
* CHOICE of how babies are born should remain with the woman after full consultation.
* Normalizing hospital birth environments should also be prioritized so that as much normality as possible can be given to all women, whilst spearheading increased home birth for those women who choose that type of birth.
* Financial difficulties within the NHS should not limit women’s choice and services need to be robust to accommodate an increased demand from women for home birth including midwifery skills accordingly.
* Caseload and one to one schemes which offer continuity of midwifery care like that of the Jentle Midwifery Scheme should wherever possible be offered to all women.
